Alan has 24 year’s experience as a Chartered Accountant, having worked in Practice for over 20 years and more recently moving to industry where he is Chief Financial Officer with Shaw Commercials.
A member of Westmeath County Council Audit Committee since 2016, Alan’s experience includes audit, taxation, banking and finance. As a trusted advisor, Alan hopes to advance the interests of Athlone Chamber in building the membership and alliances in a business world that has changed dramatically.
A former Mayor of Athlone and former Member of Athlone Town Council, Alan understands the workings of Local Government and this is key to advancing business together in Athlone.
Gerry previously worked with Bank of Ireland. He was manager of the Athlone Branch for 9 years. Subsequently Gerry was an Area Manager in Dublin and finished his career as Head of Bank of Ireland for Longford ,Westmeath and Offaly.
Gerry has been involved in the local community. He has been President of Buccaneers RFC, Chairman of St Brigid’s GAA and is a member of Athlone Golf Club
Gerry took up the role of CEO for Athlone Chamber of Commerce in late 2019.

Deirdre has experience in office admiration, advertising and marketing.
Having worked in the services sector, print media and now radio Deirdre has amassed extensive experience in customer relations.
Deirdre has also completed a certificate in Certificate in Frontline Management, Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Service.

Mairead is a leading taxation partner, also a Chartered Certified Accountant and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).
Frequently providing commentary at seminars and client workshops, Mairead provides advice on personal and corporate tax planning, corporate restructures, tax based investments, property structure, estate and succession planning
Known locally as ‘Viking Mike’, Michael McDonnell established Viking Tours in 1999 as a Viking themed passenger vessel.
As proprietor of Viking Tours, one of Athlone’s main tourist attractions, Michael has been an ambassador for this area to thousands of visitors. And due to his outgoing, convivial personality, he has become part and parcel of the local community in the intervening years.
John is a product development Engineer at Ericsson, Athlone. Ericsson are a world leader in the rapidly changing environment of communications technology – providing equipment, software and services to enable transformation through mobility.
John, at Ericsson, through his leadership in technology and services has been a driving force behind the expansion and improvement of connectivity worldwide.
John is a Chartered Accountant and has a wide range of experience having worked in practice, industry and since 2000 in Athlone Institute of Technology.
John was Vice President for Finance and is now Vice President for Strategic Planning, Institutional Performance, Equality and Diversity.
Gráinne joined Hodson Bay Hotel Group in 2013 and shortly afterwards became a board member of Athlone Chamber of Commerce.
Hodson Bay Group comprises of 4 hotels, Hodson Bay Hotel, Sheraton Athlone Hotel, Galway Bay Hotel and Hyatt Centric, The Liberties, Dublin.
Gráinne has over 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry building key relationships with national and international conference bookers. As a local to Midlands, Gráinne takes great pride in showcasing Athlone as a destination to visit – for both business or leisure.
John has 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. In private practice for 25 years John has project managed a large number of residential, commercial and industrial developments.
He has extensive experience in guiding clients through the planning process and ensuring the efficient management of projects through to completion.
John is currently immediate past President of Athlone Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He considers the contribution of Athlone Chamber to the lobbying carried out for the designation of Athlone as a Regional Centre of Growth as the Chambers most significant success over the last 5 years. Athlone was first identified as a centre for such designation in 1968.
