GOVERNMENT URGED TO HASTEN REFORMS THAT WILL SAFEGUARD 42,748 VUNERABLE RETAIL JOBS AND CREATE 31,840 NEW JOBS OVER NEXT THREE YEARS RETAIL EXCELLENCE IRELAND MAKES FIRST HUNDRED DAYS MILESTONE REVIEW PLEA FOR PRACTICAL REFORMS ON LABOUR REGULATIONS AND RENTS Wednesday, 15th June 2011 – ‘Implement urgent and practical reform of labour regulations and rents in the Irish retail sector to safeguard 42,748 vulnerable jobs, and create an additional 31,840 jobs over the next three years’. That is the plea and the challenge from Retail Excellence Ireland (REI), the largest retail industry group in Ireland, in a ‘First Hundred Days Milestone Review’ plea to Enda Kenny and his Government today. Launching a ‘Retail Industry Jobs Dividend’ report today the Chief Executive of REI, Mr. David Fitzsimons, outlined the basis for their jobs dividend plea to the Government.
